I hate the start of basketball season

Don't get me wrong. I like basketball.

Well, college basketball.

The NBA always looks like an intramural game with very talented players, to me.

But I hate the start of basketball. Why?

Well, for one, I was one of those guys that played football, basketball, and baseball.
Nothing sucked more than playing your last football game on a Fri. night, then waking up at 8 am Sat morning and going to the gym for basketball practice.

It still felt like football season. I still wanted to play football. Not basketball.

It was after Christmas break before it felt like basketball time.

The other reason is, now that I don't play anymore, it means football season is winding down.

Now last year, I didn't give a crap because State was in a bowl game. I started paying close attention to basketball only after the Liberty Bowl.

Unfortunately, 7 out of the last 8 years have felt like now.

After the Egg Bowl I will have to start paying attention to Rick and the boys.

I'll listen to them and watch them and read about them when I can. I'll be glad if they win and pissed if they lose.

But I won't be totally into it.

Not until it feels like it's not football season anymore.

So, just like I used to trudge my depressed ass to the gym those early, cold Saturdays to practice, I'll deal with it.

I've been dealing with it for to long now.

All State fans have.
